All dressed up and nowhere to go

Copenhagen is burning, and of course many people look to SHÄDY ÄCRES for guidance. What would Sara and Mikkel do? They ask. Well – Since, let’s face it, we’re too old and responsible to riot, we have turned to riot planning. As we all know, a good riot doesn’t just make itself. It takes a lot of hard work.

Riots are getting more elaborate and original everyday. Sometimes a riot with a simple theme just isn't enough. If you are one of those people who like to create riots that are special and unique, riots that protesters and police will remember forever, then we have a few ideas which should help get you on your way to a most unforgettable riot. We won’t give all our secrets away, but let’s open up our bag of tricks and see what we find:

The Princess Riot
Hear ye, hear ye. All Queens and Kings across the land who are searching for a Royal Riot should look no further. Are you ready to transform your city into a castle and your street into the palace bridge? Will you welcome riot police with a red carpet and attack them wearing crowns of gold? Princess Riots only come once in a lifetime and you want to make it one that you and your fellow princesses will remember forever.

Princess riot flyers can be royal scrolls, glass princess slippers, castle invitations delivered by knights on royal steeds. Just be sure to make them really special by using a fancy font, calligraphy, or a golden glitter ink. Remember to give the start time, end time, date and location of the Royal Riot. Since they are usually hand delivered, you can roll them in a scroll and tie them with a bow, or seal them with an official royal wax seal.

A princess riot just isn't the same without all the princesses dressed in their royal attire. If they are attending a royal ball or just having a princess tea, somehow the magic of dress-up makes the riot special.

Set the mood for your riot with great decorations like a balloon archway and a royal red carpet entrance. Cover the barricades in pink accented with streamers, balloons and confetti. Create thrones for your princesses to sit in when it's time for punch and Molotov cocktails. If you’re really ambitious you can create a castle out of some large boxes for that super special insurrection.

What princess party is complete without some royal games and events? Games like kiss the police frog, pin the wings on the black Mariah, pass the poison cobblestone, or a musical princess run, add excitement to the riot and provide a time for everyone to interact. Always remember that activities nurture creativity. Sometimes the memories are even more special when protesters get to take home the artwork that they've created themselves. Whether they make tiaras, crowns, paintings, burning cars or sugar cube castles, it will be something special that helps them remember and share their event with others.

Riot snacks can be fun too. Don't forget to bring provisions for all of your royal demonstrators. Certainly snacks and drinks that are colored in princess pink are always top of the list. But sometimes it's best to incorporate some healthy vegetable snacks while providing a pink colored dip.

The cake is the grand finale to every successful riot. Although any royal cake will do, a castle cake is popular with those who like to bake. For those who prefer a simple and less complicated treat, individual cupcakes and ice cream can reduce the mess of serving princess treats during tear gas attacks.

Without the riot police it just wouldn’t be a riot, would it? Individually wrapped riot favors are loved by everyone and say thank you for coming. In fact, adding a special, burning thank you to every riot favor bag is a polite and appreciated gesture.

We hope you enjoy that super special Princess Riot!

ah ha! so it's the princesses who are behind the pink mermaid then!

I remain awed and amazed by shädy äcres' ability to break news that matters long before anyone else realizes that they care.

I just read that because of the SMS mobilization tactic, when police are checking riot suspects on the street, they go through their text messages - without a warrant.

This infuriates me more than anything else about this whole affair. I wasn't sure I agreed to the molotovs and the cobblestones, but now I say bring the guns.

where are the hats? I think the importance of princess party riot hats is being overlooked.

Are you sure you know what you're talking about? A hatless riot? Have you no shame?
