A personal message from Chiron the Centaur

Chiron the Centaur says:

"A vote for the United Nations Secretary General is a vote for world peace in Africa and other places. Vote for the Secretary General."

Have you been watching Rome or something?

I have been watching Rome burn. Didn't hear anybody complain. I was playing my fiddle at the time.

Other than that I don't get your comment. It must be one of those many, many popular culture references I just don't get because I don't watch TV or use the Internet (much).

Let me guess: There's some lame TV show that features Chiron, the wisest of all centaurs, who was skilled in medicine and taught Asclepius, Achilles and Hercules?

No no. It's a show about the last days of the Roman republic around the time of the whole Rubicon business and all that. The reason I thought you'd been watching it, is that there's a recurring character who is the town crier, who belts out adverts phrased exactly like this one all the time. It's old-school political PR. I think you'd like it. It's good. HBO production. Sorta Sopranos meets I, Claudius in Calcutta.

Oh, and don't show off about Chiron the centaur to me, fancy-pants. I know all about Chiron the centaur. I got Chiron the centaur's number right here. Ok, so when I first read this I thought he was a character in Harry Potter, but it came back to me soon enough.

That was you playing the fiddle? I wondered where that annoying music came from.
