Identity and the economy of social relations II

So you were born in the USA - OK. Then as you grew older you found yourselves strangely attracted to Tyröler music - yeees. One fine day you woke up and realised that you needed to form a band, complete with insane copies of German folk outfits (not the correct anthropological term, I know). Now you all stand around outside the Crystal Brook Resort and yodle. WHAT?

this from the people who have made up their own country! We north americans (and apparently new zealanders I'm told) are all looking for the "identity" our ancestors gave up when they came here. We'll take whatever we can find. Especially if it involves strange outfits and yodelling. That big horn thing is also very appealing.

Identity schmidentity. I grant you that the horn is appealing, though.
